Tour to Chernigov - Chernihiv Sightseeings

Tour to Cultural Roots of Ukraine

First mentioned in written treaty from 907 Chernigov is one of the oldest city in Ukraine and some of the monuments date centuries ago. First the city served as political and cultural center of early Slave state - the Kievan Rus and another important period followed in 17th century during the era of autonomous Cossack Hetmanate.
Day tour to Chernigov (or Chernihiv in Ukrainian spelling) includes car-driven transfer from Kiev that takes around 1.5 hours (alternativelly transfer with public transport can be arranged), followed by 5 hours excursion of Chernigov's main landmarks. The oldest church in Ukraine - Savior Cathedral dating back to Byzantine style of 11th century is one of the holiest temples in Ukraine. Another ecclesiastical buildings is the Cathedral of Sts Boris and Gleb (Boryso-Hlibsky Cathedral) and Eletsky Monastery, while civil sights includes mansions of cossack's leaders. Chernigov has its own cave monastery, Antoniy Caves - complex of 315 meters of passageways, chambers and chapels from early middle-ages.
The entire trip takes around 9-10 hours and we recommend to depart between 8:00 and 9:00 from Kiev.
